I love this guide, and your photos! I'm working on something about my reflections after a trip to Cairo, because I keep seeing all of the people on social media say horrible things about their time there, and I left feeling like I couldn't wait to go back! Now I REALLY can't wait to get back and check out some of these places!!

Alexandra! Hi! Thanks so much!!! Aaah wow you’ve been to Cairo already! Cool! I can’t wait to read your reflections. I know what you mean…people really like to express how much they hate Cairo and Egypt 😂 Let’s prove them wrong ❤️

Loved this, Stina! 🥰 Alex recommended this post as we were talking about places ‘TravelTok’ loves to hate on, and Egypt always gets dragged into the equation. Your reflections were lovely to read, what a fantastic place!

Lovely article Stina. I would never think of going to Cairo or the Pyramids but you have made it sound like a really enticing place to visit. Hits all the things I enjoy - beautiful architecture, cafes and restaurants, museums and religious buildings. The heat would be something that would concern me. I struggled with 30 degrees last week in Portugal. And I am not sure my hubbie could be enticed to visit Cairo with me, he doesn't like big cities 🙄

Wow Stina! what a beautiful ode to Cairo! Literally everyone I know who has been tells me to skip it because it's noisy, dirty and chaotic, but you somehow managed to capture a completely different side, one that’s quieter, artistic, layered with history, and full of soul. I grew up watching Egyptian soap operas, so I’m familiar with many of the places you mentioned and I remember Zamalek being the “posh” area where the wealthy lived, haha. I’m definitely saving this for when I go. Also, I still can’t get over the fact that you smoked on a plane!! 😂 I always love reading about your adventures.

Hi Ibtissam!! Thank you so much!!! Ha ha ha I don't blame people for telling you all those things but you when you scratch the surface and all that..

Ha ha ha omg really??!!!! Egyptian soap operas I LOVE THIS 😂 Zamalek is def the posh area where us foreigners like to congregate. I do love the lesser affluent areas of Cairo too, though. Thanks so much for reading my stuff Ibtissam, it means a lot.

Absolutely loved the photos, you have an eye for interesting street shots.

Curious to hear your take on traveling through Cairo as a solo female?
